"Bill 18" is a province-wide law that allows police to detain and use force on individuals in order to compel them off public streets against their will. Despite unified community opposition to the Act, the Provincial Government continues to defend this well-timed effort to "clean" the streets before and during the Olympic Games. I suppose the Olympics now takes precedence over individual Rights. On Dec. 13th, I attended a rally in the Downtown Eastside against this Bill. Here are some pictures.
Animal Portraits
These pictures were taken at Jason & Maggie's Reception Dinner this past summer. I've just finished reading Malcolm Gladwell's book "Blink" in which he discusses that people's faces are a a sign of their emotions and in fact this can work the other way as well - their facial gestures can affect their emotions. Interesting. Anyways, I like these pictures because they give an insight into their personality and emotions of the night.
The Mill
This is a reel for a visual effects company called The Mill (http://www.the-mill.com/). The creativity behind these spots is very inspirational! enjoy!

Vaquero
Along my travels to Mexico I met this vaquero (cowboy) outside of Durango. Though his english was terrible, and my spanish even worse we managed to almost arrange a deal in which I would trade my "steel horse" for a couple of his "real horses". I wonder what my life would have been like had this deal gone through.....
Anash & the Legacy of the Sun-Rock
About 2 months ago a TV series called Anash & the Legacy of the Sun Rock came to Whitehorse and I managed to get a job as a Production Assistant and Stills Photographer for the series. A funny incident came up when one of the actors was absent and they needed someone to play a British sailor.....immediately! So they ran into the office, grabbed me, threw me into wardrobe (18th century costume) and makeup, shoved the lines into my hand and directed me to say a few lines. I have to say acting is quite a bit harder than I imagined. I think I buggered the lines up 3 times before getting it right. So I guess now I will now have to get an agent and move to Nigeria. All in all, it has turned out to be an amazing experience and I've learned many of the inner workings of the industry. As the stills photographer, my pictures were used in a local newspaper called "What's Up Yukon". I think they look pretty good. The website link is here http://www.whatsupyukon.com/
