Beneath The Broadcast

A few months ago Something Shows (https://somethingshows.com) and Big Boat Records (https://www.bigboatrecords.com) approached me to collaborate with them on a live recorded music video - the likes of which The Yukon has never seen!

Over two days we filmed and recorded 9 live bands in the basement of the iconic CBC Yukon building. The resulting film “Beneath The Broadcast” exists in two separate formats: one as a complete full-length 55 minute film, and the other as nine individual videos featuring each act.

From Something Shows Website: “Capturing a variety of genres – folk, rock n’ roll, alternative, sacred harp/doom, soul, hip-hop, and grunge – the film creates a collaborative piece highlighting the music and the filmmakers of Whitehorse at a specific moment in time. A collaboration between Yukon-based organizations Something Shows, Big Boat Records, local filmmaker Brendan Preston, and musical acts Jona Barr, The Sputnik Experiment, Paris Pick, Cryptozoologists, Calla Kinglit, LOCAL BOY, The Sweeties, Groan Boy, and Soda Pony, Beneath the Broadcast represents a variety of experience, perspective, and reflections on life through art in the Yukon capital.”

"Gone Means Gone"

Grand Boy Productions got in touch last fall with an interesting project. They brought me on board as Director of Photography and Camera Op for a short video which was part of a non-profit #notmyscoop campaign.  The aim was to raise awareness of the Sixties Scoop in Canada and the impact it had on the lives of those affected. New Documentary: Garbage Truck Santa

I've finally found time to start editing my documentary on local Whitehorse Legend: Garbage Truck Santa (AKA Wayne Henderson). Last winter I acted as Santa's little documentary Elf for a day as he cruised around Whitehorse handing out Candy Canes and spreading the Xmas cheer. It was a great day on many levels and I'm excited to see how the doc is coming together. It feels good be back in the doc world. I'll post a trailer soon, but in the meantime here are a few screen grabs:
